Dr. Bruce Prager is a highly experienced orthopedic surgeon with a distinguished career spanning several decades. He brings extensive expertise in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and arthroscopy, and remains deeply committed to patient care, medical education, and community service.
Dr. Prager began his academic journey at the University of Pittsburgh, earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then obtained his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. Following medical school, he completed his general surgery and orthopedic surgery residencies at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. His advanced training continued with a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, under the mentorship of Dr. Bernard R. Cahill. He also completed an A-O Trauma Fellowship at Queen’s University Medical Centre in Nottingham, England. Furthering his education, Dr. Prager earned a Business of Medicine Certificate from Johns Hopkins University in 1999.
Throughout his career, Dr. Prager has combined clinical practice with academic roles, serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern School of Allied Health in Dallas. He holds medical licensure in Texas and has earned certifications from the National Board of Medical Examiners and the Arthroscopy Board of North America.
Dr. Prager has made significant contributions to orthopedic research and education, particularly in the management of supracondylar fractures of the humerus in children. His work has been published in respected journals such as Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research and the American Journal of Sports Medicine. In addition, he has presented his research at national meetings including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association.
In addition to his academic and clinical pursuits, Dr. Prager has dedicated much of his career to sports medicine. He has served as a team physician for numerous athletic teams and events, ranging from high school football to the National Football League (NFL), where he has acted as a neutral physician since 1991. His work includes serving at prestigious events such as the Dallas Morning News Indoor Games and the National Silver Gloves Boxing Tournament.
